上海旅游高等专科学校创建于1979年，是中国最早独立设置的旅游类高等院校，时名“上海旅行游览专科学校”。2003年与上海师范大学旅游学院合并组建合一教育机构，开展从专科到硕士的多层次学历教育，同时保留独立法人单位身份。2011年通过教育部验收，成为全国唯一旅游类国家示范性高职院校，现有奉贤校区（核心校园326亩）和闵行校区，教学实践场所超3万平方米，图书馆纸质藏书43万余册，电子图书19万余册。

Shanghai Institute of Tourism was founded in 1979 as China's earliest independently established tourism-focused higher education institution, initially named "Shanghai Travel and Tourism College". In 2003, it merged with the College of Urban and Tourism of Shanghai Normal University to form an integrated educational institution offering multi-level education from junior college to master's degree, while retaining its status as an independent legal entity. In 2011, it passed the Ministry of Education's assessment to become the only national model higher vocational college specializing in tourism in China. The institute has two campuses (Fengxian Campus with 326 mu core area and Minhang Campus), over 30,000 square meters of teaching practice facilities, and a library with more than 430,000 physical books and 190,000 e-books.

学校构建了“专科-本科-硕士”完整人才培养体系，开设21个专科专业（含中加合作办学项目）、3个本科专业及旅游管理硕士点，形成酒店管理、会展策划、烹饪工艺等特色专业群。现有教职工近400人，专任教师中硕士博士占比76%，高级职称教师超30%，拥有世界旅游组织附属成员、亚太旅游教育培训机构执委会副主席等多重国际学术身份，累计培养5万余名旅游专业人才，三分之二毕业生扎根旅游行业，被誉为“中国旅游人才的摇篮”。

The institute has established a complete talent cultivation system covering "junior college-undergraduate-master" education, offering 21 junior college programs (including Sino-Canadian cooperative education projects), 3 undergraduate programs, and a master's program in tourism management. It has developed distinctive professional clusters in hotel management, exhibition planning, and culinary arts. With nearly 400 faculty members (76% holding master's or doctoral degrees and over 30% with senior professional titles), the institute holds multiple international academic affiliations such as UNWTO Affiliate Member and Vice Chair of APETIT Executive Committee. Having cultivated over 50,000 tourism professionals with two-thirds employed in the tourism industry, it is renowned as "the cradle of Chinese tourism talents".
