芜湖学院是经教育部批准设立，安徽省教育厅主管，芜湖市市属国有企业全资举办的全日制普通本科高等学校。其前身为创建于2004年的安徽师范大学皖江学院，2023年10月转设为独立设置的本科高校。2024年12月，安徽省政府、芜湖市政府与上海交通大学签署战略合作协议，共同支持学校建设高水平应用型大学。

Wuhu University is a full-time ordinary undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education, administered by the Anhui Provincial Department of Education, and fully funded by a state-owned enterprise in Wuhu City. Its predecessor was Wanjiang College of Anhui Normal University, founded in 2004, and it was transformed into an independent undergraduate university in October 2023. In December 2024, the Anhui Provincial Government, Wuhu Municipal Government, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly support the university in building a high-level application-oriented university.

学校现有在校学生9471人，教职工585人，其中硕士及以上学历439人，副高以上职称152人（正高职称56人）。开设招生专业42个，涵盖工学、文学、经济学、管理学等7个学科门类，形成汽车工程、智能制造、集成电路、大数据与人工智能等8个特色专业群，拥有省级特色专业6个、省级一流专业建设点8个及省级教学团队5个。

The university currently has 9,471 students and 585 faculty members, including 439 with master's degrees or above, 152 with associate senior titles or higher (56 with full senior titles). It offers 42 enrollment majors covering 7 disciplines such as engineering, literature, economics, and management, forming 8 characteristic professional clusters including automotive engineering, intelligent manufacturing, integrated circuits, and big data & artificial intelligence. It has 6 provincial-level characteristic majors, 8 provincial-level first-class professional construction sites, and 5 provincial-level teaching teams.
