National University of Singapore (NUS), established in 1905 as the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, is Singapore's premier world-class university. It was formed in 1980 through the merger of the University of Singapore and Nanyang University. As a member of international university alliances such as the Association of Pacific Rim Universities and the Asian University Alliance, its business school holds AACSB and EQUIS accreditations. Teaching in English, NUS adopts an Anglo-American liberal arts education model, with a typical undergraduate duration of three years (except for some programs), and outstanding students can pursue an additional year to earn an honors degree.
