萍乡学院是一所以工学为主，文理为基础，多学科相互支撑、协调发展的全日制普通本科院校。学校溯源于1941年创办的省立萍乡简易师范学校，历经萍乡师范学校、萍乡教育学院、萍乡高等专科学校等发展阶段，2013年经教育部批准升格为本科院校并定名萍乡学院，2019年通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估。80余载办学历史中，学校为社会输送了10余万名毕业生，首届毕业生刘天泉当选中国工程院院士。

Pingxiang University is a full-time ordinary undergraduate institution focusing on engineering, with liberal arts and sciences as the foundation, and multi-disciplinary mutual support and coordinated development. Tracing its roots to the Provincial Pingxiang Junior Normal School founded in 1941, the university has undergone development stages including Pingxiang Normal School, Pingxiang Institute of Education, and Pingxiang Junior College. It was upgraded to an undergraduate institution with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2013 and renamed Pingxiang University, and passed the Undergraduate Teaching Qualification Assessment of the Ministry of Education in 2019. Over 80 years of schooling, the university has cultivated more than 100,000 graduates for society, with the first batch of graduate Liu Tianquan elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

学校坐落于江西省萍乡市，这里是全国文明城市、国家园林城市，也是中国工人运动发源地、秋收起义策源地。校园占地面积1200亩，校舍建筑面积32.95万平方米，设有12个二级学院，涵盖工学、文学、理学、教育学等8个学科门类的32个本科专业。现有普通全日制在校生12561人，教职员工850人，其中博士78人、正高职称57人，拥有国务院特殊津贴专家、教育部新世纪优秀人才等省级以上人才30余人。

The university is located in Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province, which is a National Civilized City, National Garden City, as well as the birthplace of the Chinese workers' movement and the origin of the Autumn Harvest Uprising. Covering an area of 1,200 mu with a building area of 329,500 square meters, it has 12 secondary colleges offering 32 undergraduate programs across 8 disciplines including engineering, literature, science, and education. The university currently has 12,561 full-time students and 850 faculty members, including 78 doctors, 57 professors with senior titles, and more than 30 provincial-level talents such as experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council and outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education in the new century.

学校秉承“厚德至善、励学笃行”的校训精神，坚持地方性、应用型办学定位，重点发展材料、机械和教育类专业。近年来荣获全国文明单位、全国五四红旗团委、江西省就业工作先进单位等称号，2015年被列为江西省首批向应用型高校转型发展试点院校。学生在全国大学生数学建模大赛、“互联网+”创新创业大赛等赛事中屡获佳绩，近五年获国家级奖项17项、省部级奖项482项。

Adhering to the school motto of "Virtue to Goodness, Diligence in Learning and Practice", the university adheres to the local and application-oriented school-running orientation, focusing on developing materials, machinery and education-related majors. In recent years, it has been awarded titles such as National Civilized Unit, National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee, and Advanced Unit for Employment Work in Jiangxi Province. In 2015, it was listed as one of the first pilot universities in Jiangxi Province to transform into application-oriented universities. Students have achieved excellent results in competitions such as the National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition and the "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, winning 17 national awards and 482 provincial awards in the past five years.
