Despite its Catholic roots, the university maintains a neutral academic environment with minimal religious influence, as church representatives hold very few positions in its management structure, and non-church members occupy the校长办公室 and most administrative roles.

Its programs in Art Theory, Art Management, Design, Fine Arts, and Philosophy rank 101st globally, Political Science ranks 151st, and Computer Science and Economics rank 201st. Located in Rio de Janeiro, the campus requires attention to safety, but it has active international collaborations, including a partnership agreement signed with Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School in December 2025.
