昆明艺术职业学院前身为创建于1986年的聂耳音乐学校，2001年经云南省人民政府批准、教育部备案升格为艺术类普通高校。学院下设聂耳音乐学院、演艺学院、传媒学院、设计学院、人文学院、航空旅游学院等院系，建立了非物质文化遗产传承教学研究中心、民族音乐研究所等科研机构，开设有音乐表演、艺术设计、空中乘务等20余个专业，致力于培养职业型民族文化艺术人才。

Kunming Vocational College of the Arts originated from Nie Er Music School founded in 1986. In 2001, it was upgraded to an ordinary art college with the approval of Yunnan Provincial People's Government and the record of the Ministry of Education. The college has established departments such as Nie Er Conservatory of Music, Performing Arts College, Media College, Design College, College of Humanities, and Aviation Tourism College, as well as scientific research institutions including the Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Teaching and Research Center and the Ethnic Music Research Institute. It offers more than 20 majors such as Music Performance, Art Design, and Flight Attendant, dedicated to cultivating professional ethnic cultural and artistic talents.

学院积极探索民族文化艺术传承与人才培养融合的模式，构建了中职、高职、应用型本科贯通的人才培养立交桥，2011年被列为云南省综合人才培养改革试点学校。近年来，师生荣获国家级奖项49项、省部级奖项150项，艺术设计专业获中央财政支持，传媒综合实训教学中心被评为省级示范实习实训基地，形成了鲜明的艺术职业教育特色。

The college actively explores the integration mode of ethnic cultural and artistic inheritance and talent cultivation, and has built a talent training overpass connecting secondary vocational education, higher vocational education, and applied undergraduate education. In 2011, it was listed as a pilot school for comprehensive talent training reform in Yunnan Province. In recent years, teachers and students have won 49 national awards and 150 provincial and ministerial awards. The Art Design major has received support from the central finance, and the Media Comprehensive Training Teaching Center has been rated as a provincial demonstration internship and training base, forming distinct characteristics of art vocational education.
