吉林化工大学坐落在北国江城吉林市，学校成立于1958年，隶属于原化学工业部领导。2001年，学校划转吉林省管理。学校与共和国化学工业的长子——中国石油吉林石化公司相伴而生，被誉为共和国化工人才的摇篮，是经国务院批准设立的新中国首批七所化工类高校之一，是吉林省唯一一所化工类高校。2025年6月，经教育部批准，学校正式更名为吉林化工大学。

Jilin University of Chemical Technology is located in Jilin City, known as the "River City in Northern China". Founded in 1958, the university was originally under the leadership of the former Ministry of Chemical Industry. In 2001, it was transferred to the management of Jilin Province. Born alongside PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical Company, the "eldest son of China's chemical industry", the university is praised as the cradle of chemical talents in the People's Republic of China. It is one of the first seven chemical universities approved by the State Council and the only chemical university in Jilin Province. In June 2025, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the university was officially renamed Jilin University of Chemical Technology.

学校现有龙潭、双吉和丰满3个校区，占地面积115万平方米，在校生1.6万余人；设立13个教学院（部）和研究生院、工程训练中心、分析测试中心、碳纤维材料研究院；专业设置涵盖工、理、经、管、文、医6个学科门类；开展研究生、本科教育，硕士授权一级学科5个、专业硕士授权专业9个，本科专业51个，形成了多层次办学格局。

The university currently has three campuses: Longtan, Shuangji, and Fengman, covering an area of 1.15 million square meters with over 16,000 students. It has 13 teaching colleges (departments), a graduate school, an engineering training center, an analysis and testing center, and a carbon fiber material research institute. The majors cover six disciplines: engineering, science, economics, management, liberal arts, and medicine. It offers graduate and undergraduate education with 5 first-level master's programs, 9 professional master's programs, and 51 undergraduate programs, forming a multi-level educational structure.

学校重视内涵建设，拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点7个、省级一流本科专业建设点12个，国家级特色专业2个，5个专业通过国家工程教育认证。秉持“严谨、勤奋、求实、创新”的校训精神，学校正朝着打造高水平应用型大学标杆的目标奋勇前进。
