湖南生物机电职业技术学院是一所办学历史悠久、文化底蕴深厚的全日制公办高职学院，隶属湖南省教育厅主管主办，入选国家首批双高计划专业群建设单位、全国乡村振兴人才培养优质校、湖南省双高计划建设学校A档、湖南省示范性高等职业院校和湖南省卓越高等职业技术学院。学校前身可追溯至始创于1903年的湖南私立修业学堂，开国领袖毛泽东、民主革命先驱黄兴、教育家徐特立等曾在学校任教，培养了革命先烈毛泽覃，国家领导人王首道、国歌之父田汉等一大批革命志士和国家栋梁之才。共和国勋章获得者袁隆平院士曾担任学校名誉院长。

Hunan Biological and Electromechanical Polytechnic is a full-time public higher vocational college with a long history and profound cultural heritage. It is affiliated to the Hunan Provincial Department of Education and has been selected as one of the first batch of national "Double High Plan" professional group construction units, a national high-quality school for rural revitalization talent training, Grade A school of Hunan Provincial "Double High Plan" construction, Hunan Provincial Demonstrative Higher Vocational College, and Hunan Provincial Excellent Higher Vocational and Technical College. The predecessor of the school can be traced back to Hunan Private Xiuye School founded in 1903. Founding leader Mao Zedong, democratic revolution pioneer Huang Xing, educator Xu Teli, etc. once taught at the school, cultivating a large number of revolutionary martyrs and national pillars such as revolutionary martyr Mao Zetan, state leader Wang Shoudao, and the father of the national anthem Tian Han. Academician Yuan Longping, winner of the Republic Medal, once served as the honorary president of the school.

学校现有东湖、马坡岭2个校区和1个超级杂交水稻生产示范与人才培养基地，占地面积1300多亩，设有10个教学院部，对接湖南省4×4现代产业体系中优势产业现代农业，打造了覆盖现代农业全产业链的6大特色专业集群，已建成国家级高水平专业群1个、骨干专业5个，全日制在校生1.8万余人。学校始终坚持农职办学定位，助力乡村振兴，服务现代农业发展，以“为时养器，器为时用”为办学宗旨，秉承“务本崇实，修德精业”的校训，致力于培养支撑现代农业发展的高素质技术技能人才。

The school currently has 2 campuses (Donghu and Mapoling) and 1 super hybrid rice production demonstration and talent training base, covering an area of more than 1,300 mu. It has 10 teaching colleges and departments, docking the advantageous industry of modern agriculture in Hunan Province's 4×4 modern industrial system, and has built 6 characteristic professional clusters covering the entire industrial chain of modern agriculture. It has built 1 national-level high-level professional group and 5 key majors, with more than 18,000 full-time students.
